NEW ORLEANS—The Barnett, a JdV by Hyatt lifestyle hotel in New Orleans’ Warehouse Arts District, has completed a comprehensive redesign, reintroducing the property as a cultural and culinary hub reflecting the spirit of New Orleans.
Located at 600 Carondelet St., which originally housed Barnett’s Furniture Store, the 234-room hotel features renovated guest rooms and suites, a refreshed rooftop pool and bar, a revamped lobby, and expanded music and dining offerings. Local developer The Domain Companies led the project.
The hotel is managed by HRI Hospitality and is now part of the World of Hyatt loyalty program, which offers exclusive member benefits and access to Hyatt’s global network.
“This transformation is about more than a refreshed aesthetic; it’s about creating a space where people want to gather, celebrate, and connect,” says general manager Todd Metzger. “We want The Barnett to feel like part of the neighborhood’s rhythm—a hotel that reflects New Orleans’ vibrant energy while offering a genuine sense of belonging to everyone who walks through the door.”
The Barnett’s redesign embraces bold colors and textures inspired by French Modernism, Art Deco, and the city’s mosaic street tiles. The lobby blends eclectic furnishings with plush seating and community tables, paying homage to the building’s former life as a furniture store. A restored chestnut upright piano from the Steinway Piano Gallery in Metairie, La., will anchor a summer concert series featuring established and emerging “piano professors.”
Art is central throughout the property, with more than 200 custom-painted armoires designed by Roman and Williams and painted by southern artists, along with hand-painted signage and local artwork on every floor. The hotel’s Good Measure music venue continues to showcase New Orleans performers across a wide range of styles.
Guest rooms and suites feature Sealy Plush 1000 mattresses, upgraded bedding, Smeg mini-fridges, curated minibars, 60-inch smart TVs, and enhanced charging ports. Vintage-inspired lighting and layered textiles evoke classic New Orleans townhouses, while suites offer expanded layouts and views of the Warehouse District. The property also features redesigned meeting and event spaces, as well as a 24-hour fitness center.
The Barnett’s culinary offerings showcase a mix of new concepts and refreshed favorites. Brutto Americano, the latest project from chef Brian Burns and restaurateur Reno De Ranieri, blends Italian cooking with regional ingredients, offering such dishes as radiatori with Louisiana blue crab and seared scallops with fennel and Parmesan broth. The restaurant hosts Friday night “Jazz to Table” performances. Seaworthy, located in a historic Creole cottage, continues to serve sustainably sourced seafood and classic cocktails while introducing a new wine program led by chef Josh Boeckelman and a six-week Irish music residency. The High Five rooftop pool and bar offers panoramic city views, new cabanas, and seasonal small plates. All Good Café serves coffee, pastries, and local goods beside a rotating art gallery featuring emerging artists. The lobby bar features a refreshed cocktail menu, including modern takes on timeless classics.
