AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (AICVB) has promoted Amy Boek from chief marketing officer (CMO) to vice president of the organization.
The seven-member AICVB board of directors unanimously approved Boek’s promotion during its June 27 meeting.
“During her time with the CVB, Amy has been instrumental in the destination’s remarkable growth and award-winning marketing strategies, earning national recognition for her leadership in the tourism industry,” says Gil Langley, president and CEO of AICVB. “She has won the respect of local stakeholders, elected officials, policymakers, and her colleagues, and has a unique perspective of the issues we face in the future. I congratulate Amy on this well-deserved promotion.”
Since she first joined the organization in 2014, the economic impact of tourism in Nassau County has grown nearly 70 percent from $422.2 million in 2013 to $714.7 million in 2021, with Boek leading the marketing team behind this tremendous growth. As vice president, she will retain her responsibilities as CMO for the foreseeable future.
“I’m very fortunate to live and work in such an amazing destination as Amelia Island and to every day get to work with our stellar marketing team to help shape the tourism industry for the benefit of our community,” says Boek. “It’s both a joy and an honor to represent the CVB locally and around the world, and I look forward to the opportunities this new executive role will bring.”
According to a media release, while originally from Kentucky, Boek fell in love with north Florida during a college internship and jumped at the opportunity to relocate to Amelia Island after graduating from Murray State University with a degree in public relations and marketing. Previously she served as marketing communications manager for Omni Amelia Island Resort, during which she helped relaunch the beachfront resort following a $100 million renovation.
During her tenure at the CVB, Boek was at the helm of numerous advertising campaigns and introduced several new programs and events such as Dickens on Center, which sees downtown Fernandina Beach turned into a classic English village.
At the state level, Boek is currently a member of the VISIT FLORIDA marketing council and Destinations Florida board of directors. Locally, she has served on the Fernandina Beach Main Street council and other city and county committees and boards while also appearing as a regular panelist and speaker at industry events.
