Brownsville, the seat of Cameron County, is a culturally rich, historic city. “The city prides itself on being the perfect blend of Mexican American culture, giving planners a one-of-a-kind experience they won’t find anywhere else,” says Malinalli Montesam, assistant director of Brownsville CVB.
Brownsville Events Center offers 13,000 square feet, with a capacity of 1,200 guests. The Mitte Cultural District features numerous attractions available for events, including the nationally accredited Gladys Porter Zoo. The Brownsville Historical Association manages sites for private events, including Laureles Ranch House Museum, which can accommodate up to 200 people. Brownsville offers 2,200 guest rooms across 30 hotels. The 96-room Staybridge Suites Brownsville has meeting space for small groups.
Nearby, the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center features more than 8,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Thirty miles north, Harlingen Convention Center boasts 44,000 square feet; its largest space has a seating capacity of 1,800 guests. The adjacent 149-room Hilton Garden Inn Harlingen Convention Center includes a ballroom, which can accommodate up to 130 people, as well as a boardroom for smaller gatherings. Courtyard by Marriott Harlingen has approximately 950 square feet to accommodate up to 100 people in theater-style seating.
