ATHENS, Ga. – The Classic Center Cultural Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2023 community grant.
Each year, the Cultural Foundation awards grant funding up to $5,000 to support performing, visual, or culinary arts efforts and workforce development initiatives aligning with the hospitality industry in Athens-Clarke County, Ga. The deadline to apply for this grant is Tuesday, Aug. 15. Applications are limited to organizations within the local area. A committee will evaluate applicants, and the recipient(s) will be awarded in September.
The Classic Center Cultural Foundation’s grant funding will require a completed application; a proposal of the project, event, or performance the company/organization is looking to achieve; and a timeline for one calendar year for completion of the project.
Past projects supported through the grant include:
- Community theatre projects
- Funds for public art in a local park
- Rental space for a traveling exhibit at The Classic Center
- Securing a musical act to perform for area schools
- Creating a “hospitality pathway” for local high school students
- Aiding in the purchase of equipment to assist culinary students in their community garden
