Classic Center Cultural Foundation to support the community with 2023 grants

ATHENS, Ga. – The Classic Center Cultural Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2023 community grant.

Each year, the Cultural Foundation awards grant funding up to $5,000 to support performing, visual, or culinary arts efforts and workforce development initiatives aligning with the hospitality industry in Athens-Clarke County, Ga. The deadline to apply for this grant is Tuesday, Aug. 15. Applications are limited to organizations within the local area. A committee will evaluate applicants, and the recipient(s) will be awarded in September.

The Classic Center Cultural Foundation’s grant funding will require a completed application; a proposal of the project, event, or performance the company/organization is looking to achieve; and a timeline for one calendar year for completion of the project.

Past projects supported through the grant include:

  • Community theatre projects
  • Funds for public art in a local park
  • Rental space for a traveling exhibit at The Classic Center
  • Securing a musical act to perform for area schools
  • Creating a “hospitality pathway” for local high school students
