NORFOLK, Va. – Plans are in place to develop a Courtyard by Marriott hotel near Norfolk International Airport.
The Norfolk Airport Authority’s board of commissioners recently voted unanimously to move forward with negotiations to build the property. As reported by The Virginian-Pilot, construction of the property will take 18 to 24 months after the design stage is complete, which will take about six to nine months, according to airport executive director and CEO Mark Perryman.
The newspaper reports ORF Hospitality Partners has been selected as the developer. Concepts for the hotel call for 168 rooms and a rooftop bar.
According to Perry, this past year has been the busiest ever for the airport, with 250,000 more passengers year-over-year. Other renovations are ongoing there, including the addition of more gates and moving walkways, and runaway improvements.
