Del Rio offers visitors easy access via a newly expanded Amtrack station, with numerous hotels, restaurants, and activities close to the civic center. “If you catch the right date, you will be embraced by some of our unique festivals and events, like Cinco de Mayo, Noches Musicales, or Dieciséis de Septiembre, a celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day,” says Debbie Guerra, executive assistant for Del Rio Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). The City of Del Rio Civic Center has two large ballrooms, a 2,000-square-foot banquet and exhibit hall, and two 1,000-square-foot meeting rooms.
The city is home to Laughlin Air Force Base, Amistad National Recreation Area, Devils River State Natural Area, and Lake Amistad, with a wide range of outdoor recreational activities. Del Rio also is home to Val Verde Winery, the oldest operating winery in the state. It offers tastings and has a small event space.
According to Del Rio CVB, the area has more than 1,000 guest rooms in town and on the lake. Ramada by Wyndham Del Rio, near Amistad National Recreation Area, has 6,000 square feet of event space to accommodate 300 guests.
