LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Derby City Gaming in Louisville, Ky., has officially opened its first hotel.
According to local television station WDRB, the hotel, which is attached to the gaming center, features 123 rooms, including 14 corner suites and a VIP suite. It is part of a 135,000-square-foot expansion that included hundreds of new horse racing machines, as well as a bourbon bar and steakhouse.
As reported, Garth Williams, general manager, says the hotel is themed after the Kentucky Derby, which he called “the greatest sporting event in history.”
A grand opening was recently held for the new hotel, attended by Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, and other city leads.
In the article, Stivers said the new hotel would add to the economic impact of the gaming center. The state recently just legalized sports betting, and the property will see one of the first implementations of it.
Another Derby City Gaming facility is currently being built in downtown Louisville, expected to be open in late October 2023.
