The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza St. Louis has welcomed Estefania Gil as director of rooms of the historic property.
Gil will plan and direct all day-to-day functions of the rooms division while collaborating with the executive committee to provide leadership, strategic support, consultation, and direction of hotel operations. “As a hotel leader, Gil will focus on creating amazing moments for guests and team members, implementing policies encouraging employees to perform to their highest standard, and providing strategic vision and tactical execution to achieve the hotel’s revenue and profitability goals and objectives,” a news release states.
“Estefania is a leader of action with a visible passion for hospitality,” says Paul Filla, hotel general manager. “Her demonstrated success in building strong teams, developing talent, and creating a winning culture will serve her well in her new role as director of rooms.”
Previously, Gil was the director of housekeeping for the property. In that role, Gil was responsible for recruiting and training team members, supervisors, and assistant directors. Under her leadership, the property restructured its housekeeping leadership team and implemented a VIP room program. As a member of the junior executive committee, Gil helped develop an employee empowerment system, designed to aid team members in resolving guest challenges on their own, without escalating to management.
“I love mentoring Sonesta team members and aiding them in establishing a career path,” says Gil. “It’s rewarding when I get a call or message from a mentee or past team member telling me about their promotion or achievement. I look forward to continuing to create success and growth for team members in my new role as director of rooms.”
Previously, Gil was the director of the front office at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head and the front office manager at the Marriott Marquis in Houston. She earned her bachelor of science in human resources from the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain. She and her husband reside near Tower Grove Park in St. Louis. Gil enjoys the park’s Food Truck Fridays and the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
