Centrally located in Texas, about an hour from Austin or San Antonio, Fredericksburg makes travel easy for event attendees and offers planners a variety of unique venues, meeting spaces, and activities like trail rides, group yoga, live music, golfing, legendary shopping, art galleries, and museums for after hours or teambuilding excursions. “In Fredericksburg, you can host a small meeting, retreat, or an event at a historic dance hall, a museum, theater, hotel, and more,” says McKenzie Moellering, communications manager for Fredericksburg CVB. “Fredericksburg embodies true Texas hospitality and takes it seriously. In this small community, you will find first-rate service and friendly faces.”
With approximately 1,200 hotel rooms and additional vacation rentals, cabins, and B&Bs, Fredericksburg’s newest lodging is The Albert Hotel, set to open this month as the city’s first full-service hotel. It will have 105 guest rooms and 4,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space to accommodate 200 guests. Other hotels with event space include the 103-room Fredericksburg Inn & Suites, with two meeting spaces to host 200 guests; the 1940s-themed Hangar Hotel, with 50 guest rooms and a conference center to accommodate 500 guests; and Inn on Barons Creek, with 90 suites and a conference center to host 250, according to the CVB. A new offsite event space is Alstadt Brewery, “an authentic Bavarian brewery that creates beers guided by the historic German purity law of 1516. The 120-acre property includes a fine dining restaurant, rathskeller, and Grand Hall for events,” Moellering says. Another unique offsite venue is National Museum of the Pacific War, with several meeting and event options to accommodate 200 guests, including a newly renovated ballroom, a private room with a second-story balcony overlooking Main Street, a courtyard, and other gallery space in the museum.
Fredericksburg’s history and heritage can be found throughout the area, including Lyndon B. Johnson National and State Historic parks, Enchanted Rock Statue Natural Area, a 425-foot granite dome offering 360-degree views of the Texas Hill Country, more than 75 vineyards, wineries, and tasting rooms, and famous historic Texas dance halls.
