CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa, and Marina has debuted pickleball activities and tournaments for group guests.
The property now offers the paddle sport to provide a fun and competitive teambuilding activity or event. Additionally, the resort has added “The Cove” golf simulator experience providing year-round competitive play for guests.
“We are pleased to introduce the new and exciting pickleball experiences and virtual golf simulator to our robust menu of group activities at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay,” says Cari Ruppert, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. “Whether it’s for a corporate event, colleague teambuilding activity, or part of a multi-day meeting, our menu of group experiences allows guests to immerse themselves against the beautiful backdrop of the resort and its waterfront location along the Choptank River while connecting and building bonds with other attendees.”
Pickleball, the increasingly popular sport that resembles tennis or ping pong, will be offered as a group activity year-round at the resort’s onsite courts. Planners can work with the resort’s team of event experts to coordinate one-off games of pickleball or customized tournaments to encourage friendly competition among attendees.
The resort has also debuted a state-of-the-art golf simulator, “The Cove.” The golf simulator, developed by TruGolf, has an extensive library of courses and competitive game modes, ranging from Bandon Dunes in Oregon to Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. Experienced golfers looking to perfect their swing can take advantage of the augmented reality analysis–the simulator eliminates the need to track a game’s progression, as it keeps detailed accounts of rounds played, practice sessions, scores, and ball statistics.
The resort also provides sunset glow golf where participants swing at interactive, inflatable targets using LED glow golf balls. There is also a putting green with a putt-putt style design illuminated by the glow of flags.
Groups and guests who prefer a more relaxing adventure can opt for the “Sip & Paint” art class where they will have a chance to learn various techniques while painting a canvas picture in a relaxing atmosphere. Their glass will be refilled by choosing from a selection of wines. “Sip & Stretch” yoga is also available for practitioners of all levels. Attendees can enjoy a glass of wine while taking a class with one of the resort’s certified yoga instructors.
The resort is home to two grand ballrooms that were renovated in 2023, including the 11,259 square-foot Chesapeake Ballroom, and the 4,860-square-foot Choptank Ballroom, both of which have spacious pre-function foyers designed to showcase the natural light.
In addition to the recently renovated ballrooms, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay boasts 85,000 square feet of outdoor event space, including the Regatta Pavilion, offering panoramic views of the scenic Choptank River. Additional onsite venues include the Breakwater Pavilion, located steps from the shore at the end of a private dock; the Grand Fireplace Patio which gives way to views of the Crescent Pool and Choptank River; and the Manor Lawn, located next to the 18th hole at the River Marsh Golf Club. The resort also has its Bluepoint Provisions venue which features indoor floor-to-ceiling windows, while its outdoor space includes a spacious deck and sprawling lawn that conveniently connects to the beach.
