“Round Rock stands out as a destination that blends convenience with authentic Texas character,” says Nancy Yawn, director of Go Round Rock. “We offer international cuisine, a vibrant arts scene, world-famous Round Rock Donuts, specialty shopping, and unique attractions that create lasting memories. Southern hospitality is at the heart of our city, ensuring visitors feel welcome from the moment they arrive.”
Located north of Austin, Round Rock offers a diverse range of options, from boutique hotels to large conference facilities. “Kalahari Resorts and Conventions offers extensive meeting space and family-friendly entertainment, including 350,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor waterparks,” Yawn says. The 975-room resort features a 200,000-square-foot convention center, including a ballroom seating 5,470 theater style, plus 50,000 square feet of outdoor venues. Other major event hotels include the 295-room Austin Marriott North, with 16,405 square feet of function space; and 180-room Embassy Suites, with 17,291 square feet of banquet and meeting space to host 700 guests.
Known as the “Sports Capital of Texas,” Round Rock is raising the bar with a major expansion of the Round Rock Sports Center, according to Yawn. “The upgraded 118,720-square-foot facility, which opened in November 2025, features eight basketball courts (or 16 volleyball courts), nine multipurpose rooms, seating for 2,288 spectators, and a total capacity of 6,560.”
Round Rock offers visitors a historic downtown with lively nightlife, local shops, and diverse dining, plus fun options for excursions or teambuilding, including Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill, located at Bass Pro Shops; escape rooms Escapology and Virtropolis VR; and Top Notch axe throwing.
