South Padre Island is located between Laguna Madre Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. “We have 300 days of sunshine and all the outdoor activities that conventioneers want: the beach, water sports, surfing, kiteboarding, fishing, horseback riding, entertainment, and excellent local cuisine,” says April Romero, director of communications and destination development for Visit South Padre Island.
South Padre Island Convention Center features 45,000 square feet of meeting space; its largest space can accommodate up to 2,500 people. Hotels with event space include the 256-room Margaritaville Beach Resort South Padre Island, which has 8,500 square feet of event space. Isla Grand Beach Resort features more than 10,000 square feet of indoor space, with a capacity of 860 people, and a 13,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard for large receptions of up to 1,600 people. The 216-room Holiday Inn Resort has 14,266 square feet of meeting space; Courtyard by Marriott has 12,000 square
feet of meeting space; and the 156-room Hilton Garden Inn offers 8,965 square feet
of event space.
Teambuilding opportunities range from ziplining to helping local wildlife at Sea Turtle Inc. The area also offers diverse dining.
