The Guided WaveRunner Tour is all about exploration and discovery. Led by experienced, professionally trained guides, participants get the opportunity to cruise through scenic waterways and weave through the trails of one of the world’s largest mangrove forests. The journey sets out from the beachfront of one of the hotels on Marco Island—making it flexible to fit around meeting schedules—and takes riders to the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades, a chain of uninhabited islands. The islands serve as a national wildlife refuge, where guests can encounter a diverse range of wildlife, including dolphins, manatees, and all sorts of native birds.

Located in Annapolis, Md.—often referred to as “America’s Sailing Capital”—the school was established in 1959 as the nation’s first sailing school for adults. With each of its courses, the school provides expert, hands-on instruction in the art of sailing, from basic terminology and trimming the sails to catching the wind and steering the boat. Annapolis Sailing School can even set up races for groups to build camaraderie through competition.

Va., Wild Blue Adventure Co. takes guests on once-in-a-lifetime flights over America’s newest national park, New River Gorge National Park & Preserve. History buffs will appreciate that the flights take place in a World War II Stearman biplane, which was used as a training plane during the war.

Groups can select from four flight durations, from 20-minute to 60-minute tours, all of which give passengers a bird’s-eye view of the area.
