PONTE VEDRA, Fla.—The River Club, located in downtown Jacksonville, has completed a major interior renovation aimed at enhancing the experience for members and event guests.
Occupying its location for more than 60 years, the private club unveiled a redesigned interior featuring updated color palettes, new furnishings, and modern finishes. The River Club includes two dining venues, an extensive wine collection, and five private event spaces.
“The River Club’s redesign stemmed from our desire to enhance the guest experience,” says Chris Miller, general manager of The River Club. “After an initial assessment of the space, we revamped dining areas and meeting rooms to allow for more intimate conversations in a modernized and flexible setting.”
The renovation marked the first major interior update in two decades for the club, which frequently serves as the setting for business meetings, private dinners, weddings, and other events. Interior designer Sandra Bradley of RDB INVISION partnered with the club to refresh lighting, carpeting, and tile, and to install new countertops and wallpaper throughout the space.
“Our very own River City was the inspiration for this project,” says Charlie Baker, senior director of design and experience for Gate Hospitality Group. “The carpeting that we selected intentionally resembles the colors of the beautiful St. Johns River, representing the fellowship and evolution of Jacksonville.”
Among the updates is a refreshed Duval boardroom, a meeting space designed for business use that can accommodate up to 25 people. The room now features leather seating and updated wall coverings. Restrooms throughout the club were also upgraded with new fixtures and vanities to improve functionality.
In addition to the design changes, the club will feature weekly floral arrangements created by local Jacksonville florist Kuhn Flowers.
Located at 1 Independent Square, The River Club sits high above downtown Jacksonville, offering panoramic views of St. Johns River and the city skyline. The club’s renovated spaces can host gatherings ranging from small business meetings to large events of up to 350 guests.
