Offering easy access to Interstates 85 and 26, and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), less than 30 minutes away, Spartanburg has groups of all sizes returning, year after year,” says Patricia Byrd, CMP, director of group sales and services for OneSpartanburg Inc. “Spartanburg has developed a reputation for hosting successful conferences and retreats. By nurturing strong relationships and understanding what planners want, we see them returning year after year.”

Westgate Pointe Town Center, a 50-acre retail development next to Spartanburg’s largest shopping mall, promotes a “meeting hub” featuring event space, overnight accommodations, shopping, and dining—all in one central area. A development of Pinnacle Partnership, Westgate Pointe Town Center includes 1881 Event Hall, with 19,000 square feet of flexible ballrooms, meeting space, and pre-function areas. The venue’s largest space, a 4,560-square-foot ballroom, can host up to 576 guests theater style, 350 for banquets, and 500 for receptions. A new 3,213-square-foot ballroom addition seats up to 400 theater style, 220 for banquets, and 280 for receptions.

The newly renovated 126-room Hampton Inn & Suites Spartanburg-I-26-WestGate Mall offers additional guest rooms and event space. The recently updated 88-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites I-26 & US-29 at WestGate Mall features event space for up to 60 guests. Additional hotels include Hilton Garden Inn, Spartanburg and Residence Inn by Marriott Spartanburg Westgate.

Downtown, the 247-room Spartanburg Marriott features 29,604 square feet of event space across 25 event rooms. AC Hotel by Marriott Spartanburg recently refreshed all 114 guest rooms, the main lobby, and the outdoor pool area. The hotel’s largest event space features 2,515 square feet of event space to accommodate up to 160 guests.

The Alcove at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium is Spartanburg’s latest versatile meeting venue. It offers 1,200 square feet of event space and can accommodate 100 people for receptions and 50 for seated events.

Home of Minor League Baseball’s Hub City Spartanburgers, the new Fifth Third Park also is ideal for fundraisers, business meetings, and social events. Indigo Hall, located in a historic downtown Spartanburg building, has two event halls and a newly designed, attached veranda and garden space. Clevedale Historic Inn & Gardens offers seven indoor and outdoor event venues, accommodating up to 200 people in its largest space. The venue also has four elegant suites for overnight guests.

For dining, Isla’s on the Square offers a coastal menu, craft cocktails, and an oyster bar. Wade’s Restaurant, a Spartanburg staple since 1947, is renowned for its homestyle Southern comfort food. Last year, the landmark eatery was honored with the prestigious James Beard America’s Classics Award. Stubborn Mule, a new eatery in Landrum, serves handcrafted artisan pizzas and a wide selection of house-brewed beers.

The new Vintage View Retreats & Adventures offers kayak and canoe rental services and trips on the Pacolet River. Groups can also enjoy biking, hiking, or running along the 55-mile Daniel Morgan Trail System. BMW Performance Center offers thrills for adrenaline junkies, along with event space.
