Just a few minutes north of Alabama’s beaches, Foley has a historic downtown with museums, shops, and local restaurants, according to VisitFoley.com. It’s home to the popular Tanger Outlets and OWA, a 520-acre theme park with shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Tropic Falls at OWA features 23 theme-park rides, an outdoor wave pool, and the region’s largest indoor waterpark. Downtown OWA includes the 402-seat OWA Theater that also has lobby and mezzanine space for gatherings, and The Playhouse, which hosts community theater productions, acting classes, indie films, and other entertainment. Other attractions include flyBama helicopter tours, Aura Adventures glow-in-the-dark kayaking, arcade games, laser tag, and indoor pickleball. The 150-suite TownePlace Suites by Marriott at OWA has a small meeting room and outdoor event space.
Adjacent to OWA, the 90,000-square-foot Foley Event Center is a multi-use indoor facility with space for basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, dance, gymnastics, and trade shows. Other offsite venues include Coastal Alabama Farmer’s and Fisherman’s Market, with covered, open-air space for luncheons, seminars, parties, and concerts, and Alabama Gulf Coast Music Hall, with seating for up
to 1,000.
Area attractions include hiking, kayaking, and disc golf at Graham Creek Nature Preserve; Foley Railroad Museum, including a new WWII exhibit; Holmes Medical Museum; and Stacey’s Olde Tyme Soda Fountain, a local favorite for ice cream treats since 1929.
