In centuries past, the big natural watering hole known as Big Spring was a gathering spot for travelers looking to rest and refresh. Today, the city offers a renovated spring, hotel meeting space, and offsite venues. According to VisitBigSpring.com, the park at the spring now features new walkways, a stage, and a plaza to accommodate 1,000 people.
The historic Art Deco-styled Hotel Settles opened in 1930 as the tallest building between El Paso and Fort Worth. Today, the boutique hotel offers 65 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom seating 300 and several meeting and boardrooms.
Offsite venues include the 3,900-seat Comanche Trail Park Amphitheater and the 90,000-square-foot Dorothy Garrett Coliseum at Howard College, with a 4,000-seat arena and additional meeting and exhibit space.
