Nancy Yawn, director of Go Round Rock, says her city has much to make it unique for meetings and events. “We are so much more than just a suburb north of Austin. We are a vibrant destination that leaves a lasting impression on every visitor. We have international cuisine, an art scene, shopping, unique attractions, and our world-famous donuts,” Yawn says. Round Rock Donuts, made from the original owner’s special recipe, has been a local favorite since 1926.
With almost 5,000 guest rooms in the city, major event hotels include the 295-room Austin Marriott North, with nearly 15,000 square feet of function space, including a ballroom seating 550 for banquets and theater-style events or holding 700 for receptions, and the 180-room Embassy Suites Round Rock, with 17,291 square feet of event space, including 12 meeting rooms and a ballroom seating 860 for dinners. The largest event space in the city is at Kalahari Resort & Conventions, which has 975 guest rooms, more than 200,000 square feet of indoor space for meetings, conventions, and events, and 50,000 square feet of outdoor event space, including an event barn, covered terraces, and a lawn. The authentically African-themed resort is also home to America’s largest indoor waterpark, a great attraction for event attendees and their families.
According to Yawn, other family-friendly attractions include Top Notch Axe Throwing, Escapology escape room, Board & Brush crafting activities and workshops, and Round Rock Honey, where visitors learn about beekeeping, harvesting, and blending honey. Known as the “Sports Capital of Texas,” Round Rock is filled with all kinds of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including Dell Diamond, home to the Round Rock Express, a Triple-A affiliate of MLB’s Texas Rangers. Dell Diamond features a conference center with 10,000 square feet of event space.
