The nation’s fourth-largest city buzzes with a vibrant arts community, diverse culture, and assorted venues, accommodations, and attractions planners love. Downtown’s George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) features 1.2 million square feet of event space, including 88 meeting rooms and 550,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space. Outside of the convention center, the half-mile Avenida Houston Plaza makes up Texas’ largest convention and entertainment district, connecting GRB to Minute Maid Park, home of MLB’s Houston Astros, and the 1,207-room Hilton Americas ̶ Houston. As the city’s largest hotel, it features 117,457 square feet of flexible meeting space with a capacity of 2,900 people in its largest space. Marriott Marquis, which also connects to GRB via skybridge, offers 1,000 guest rooms and 153,324 square feet of meeting space, including 52 event rooms.
The 250-room Post Oak Hotel Houston and two Houston locations of the Hotel Zaza brand recently were awarded the much-coveted Michelin Keys. Houston will also soon welcome two new boutique properties: the 47-room Hotel Daphne in the Heights neighborhood and the 71-room Hotel St. Augustine in the Museum District. Later this year, a dual Holiday Inn & Staybridge Suites will open within walking distance of GRB. A multi-year terminal expansion project recently finished at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Major events in Houston include this month’s PCMA Convening Leaders 2025 and the much-anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“We look forward to hosting global events and meetings, as well as top professionals from various industries,” says Michael Heckman, president and CEO of Houston First Corp.
“We are especially excited that several (recent) meetings and conventions have broken attendance records and our sales and services teams—along with our hotels and hospitality partners—continue to deliver for our customers.”
