GALVESTON, Texas—Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center has announced a major refresh project totaling more than $6 million, aimed at modernizing guest rooms and meeting spaces with a nature-inspired design. The renovations are scheduled for completion by Feb. 27, 2026.
“This cosmetic upgrade will modernize our guest rooms in a way that draws inspiration from the resort’s lush botanical gardens and organic materials,” says Steve Kalbaugh, general manager of Moody Gardens Hotel. “We’re excited to provide a refreshed look and feel that aligns with our guests’ expectations and delivers an elevated, AAA Four Diamond experience.”
The project includes upgrades to guest room interiors with new carpet, furniture, fixtures, 55-inch TVs, and Bluetooth-enabled vanity mirrors. King rooms will feature upgraded walk-in showers, while two queen rooms will be outfitted with new tubs and showerheads. Meeting and event spaces, including the Moody Ballroom, Floral Ballroom, breakout meeting rooms, and pre-function hallways, will also be renovated.
The new look, developed by Houston-based design firm Graniti Vicentia, draws on botanical themes and organic materials to create a tranquil, timeless, and vibrant atmosphere. The renovations will reflect both evolving guest expectations and a commitment to sustainability.
“We’re modernizing while staying true to the tranquil and natural aesthetic that defines Moody Gardens,” Kalbaugh says.
Located on 242 acres along the Gulf Coast, Moody Gardens Hotel offers a wide array of amenities, including casual and fine dining, a full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, a Texas-sized outdoor pool with a swim-up bar, and family attractions connected to the property’s signature glass pyramids.
