1. Memphis is a music city like no other.
In the home of blues, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll, live music rocks seven nights a week on Beale Street. Legendary music attractions—including the Blues Foundation’s Blues Hall of Fame, Sun Studio, Stax Museum of American Soul Music, and Elvis Presley’s Graceland—double as event venues.
2. The all-new Memphis’ Renasant Convention Center
The city debuted the fully modernized Renasant Convention Center in 2021. Just steps from iconic Beale Street, the venue connects the Mississippi Riverfront with Memphis’ walkable downtown. With 300,000 square feet of flexible space, it’s sized just right for groups wanting to enjoy a “takeover” rather than lose themselves in a larger venue, while offering unique spaces for any group, including a 118,000-square-foot column-free exhibit hall, a riverfront terrace, a glass-walled boardroom overlooking Memphis’ Main Street, and the 2,051-seat Cannon Center for the Performing Arts. At nearby Liberty Park, a $200 million sports-and-events center debuted in 2023, offering more flexible meeting spaces near the downtown area.
3. Hotel rooms downtown abound.
Approximately 2,000 new hotel rooms opened in Memphis between 2020 and 2022, and more than 6,000 additional rooms are in development through 2026. Currently, 4,000 rooms are ready to book downtown.
4. Memphis is easy to get to (and around).
Memphis International Airport (MEM) debuted a $245 million passenger terminal upgrade in 2022. The ticketing and check-in experience is being transformed next at this facility, which services 100 flights daily with 30 nonstop destinations. Yet, Memphis’ central location means the city is a short flight, drive, or train ride from almost anywhere in the United States. In-market groups will enjoy Memphis’ compact, walkable downtown and vintage trolleys.
5. Memphis is a value for groups.
Airport upgrades and new sports facilities are helping to keep Memphis’ offering fresh, though the city remains a value for groups. In fact, USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice ranked Memphis No.1 for Best U.S. Destination on a Budget, and research shows that nightly hotel rates are 28% lower in Memphis compared to the national average.
6. Memphis Tourism is a one-stop shop for planners.
The Memphis Tourism team works with planners every step of the way, whether you need logistics assistance or a local speaker in your vertical. When you host your event at the Renasant Convention Center, it is managed by Memphis Tourism—making your job even easier.
7. Memphis has many unique venues.
From an after-hours tour of Elvis Presley’s Graceland to a reception on a glass-bottom deck atop Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid (one of the world’s largest pyramids), only-in-Memphis venues guarantee memorable events.
8. Last, but not least, the ‘Bluff City’ is known for delicious food.
In Memphis, you’ll find world-famous barbecue, indulgent soul food, and MICHELIN-recommended eats all within walking distance of the Renasant Convention Center.
