PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection has appointed Michael “Mike” Hodgins as golf general manager, placing a veteran hospitality executive in charge of the historic Vinoy Golf Club as it enters its 100th year.
Hodgins will oversee day-to-day operations of the golf club, with responsibilities that include enhancing the experience for members and resort guests, expanding group and tournament play, and further positioning The Vinoy among Florida’s premier golf destinations.
Hodgins has more than three decades of leadership experience in hospitality and luxury golf operations, including a 24-year career with Marriott International. Most recently, Hodgins served as general manager of golf at JW Marriott Camelback Golf Club, Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he led a 36-hole operation in one of the country’s most competitive golf markets.
During his tenure in Arizona, Hodgins managed multimillion-dollar budgets, improved profitability, and helped reposition the club to better serve resort guests, members, and group business. His work earned multiple industry honors, including Marriott Golf Professional of the Year and several Marriott Golf Property of the Year awards.
“The Vinoy has an extraordinary golf legacy, and stepping into this role during such a meaningful milestone year is incredibly special,” says Hodgins. “I’m excited to build on what makes this course iconic while continuing to evolve the experience for members, resort guests, and group outings alike.”
Resort officials said Hodgins’ appointment “supports The Vinoy’s broader centennial focus on thoughtful evolution—honoring tradition while investing in elevated experiences across the resort, including golf, meetings, and leisure travel.”
