ATLANTA—The ATL Airport District Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has added the City of South Fulton as its newest partner, expanding the tourism organization’s footprint on Atlanta’s Southside.
South Fulton’s City Council approved the partnership during its Feb. 10 meeting after presentations from the ATL Airport District CVB’s leadership team. The CVB serves as the destination marketing organization for the cities of College Park, Fairburn, Hapeville, and Union City.
“We are thrilled to announce our exciting new partnership with the City of South Fulton,” says Mercedes Miller, president of the ATL Airport District CVB. “This engaged and enthusiastic community enhances our tourism product by expanding our footprint on Atlanta’s Southside, while providing visitors with enhanced offerings in outdoor recreation, music, and arts!”
With the addition, the CVB will promote several South Fulton attractions, including Wolf Creek Golf Course, access points to the Chattahoochee River, climbing areas at Boat Rock Preserve, and such trails as Aerotropolis Nature Park.
The partnership also bolsters the ATL Airport District CVB’s sports tourism efforts through the South Fulton Tennis Center, a 20-court complex with clay courts and four dedicated pickleball courts. The facility has hosted tournaments for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the HBCU National Championship.
“We are stronger when we work together, rather than apart,” says Carmalitha Gumbs, mayor of South Fulton. “This strategic move allows us in South Fulton to work cohesively with our neighboring cities with a unified CVB structure. People don’t experience our cities in silos, and our tourism strategy shouldn’t operate that way either.”
The ATL Airport District CVB has begun onboarding the City of South Fulton and plans to incorporate it into its broader marketing initiatives as it works to position the ATL Airport District as a regional tourism hub.
