ATLANTA—JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown has appointed Amanda Joiner as general manager. The move marks the luxury hospitality executive’s return to the city where she began her career more than 30 years ago.
Joiner has extensive experience in hotel operations, sales, and marketing, including leadership positions with The Ritz-Carlton brand. Most recently, she served as global vice president of The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center in St. Louis, a global consulting and advisory organization focused on helping companies strengthen culture, employee engagement, and customer experience.
“We are thrilled to welcome Amanda as general manager of the JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown,” says Marco Selva, senior vice president of luxury and lifestyle at Stonebridge Companies, a hotel management firm. “Her commitment to outstanding service execution in the luxury sector, combined with her ability to lead, will usher in a new era of luxury for downtown Atlanta.”
A Michigan native, Joiner earned a degree in commercial recreation and facility management from Central Michigan University before beginning her hospitality career in Atlanta. She previously served as area director of sales and hotel manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta, located just a few blocks from the JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown.
Joiner’s experience has included a focus on guest experience and brand positioning. In 2015, she was named general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis, which achieved significant gains in customer experience rankings and employee engagement. During her tenure, she received the Global Ritz-Carlton General Manager of the Year Guardian Award. She was also recognized as one of the 2024 Top Women in Travel and Hospitality by Women Leading Travel.
Joiner’s appointment comes as JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown continues to establish itself as a modern luxury destination in the city’s urban core. According to the hotel, her leadership style and focus on developing high-performing teams align with the brand’s emphasis on creating meaningful guest experiences.
Joiner says she is excited to return to Atlanta and support the hotel’s vision of providing a luxury environment centered on balance, presence, and intentional living for both visitors and local guests.
