According to Visit Amarillo, the destination is a prime location for meetings and events due to its cost-effectiveness, ample function space with unique venues, numerous accommodations, air travel options, and central location in the Texas panhandle, where the southern plains meet the desert.
Opportunities for group excursions or teambuilding include Hodgetown Stadium, which includes suites and patio areas to accommodate up to 200 guests; Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery, with a 7,000-square-foot beer garden; Merus Aventure Park, located in Palo Duro Canyon, with off-roading, overlanding, hiking, caving, and more; and Mack Dick Pavilion, also in the canyon, with space to host 169 people.
Downtown’s Amarillo Civic Center Complex has more than 410,000 square feet of versatile space for conventions, meetings, trade shows, concerts, and other events. The complex includes a 2,300-seat theater, a 4,870-seat coliseum, a 24,565-square-foot exhibit hall, and additional event rooms. Adjacent to the complex, the 226-room Embassy Suites Amarillo Downtown offers 18,000 square feet of function space, including a 10,000-square-foot ballroom with a capacity of 800 guests. The complex and hotel, along with the 1,300-seat Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts, are just minutes from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA) and have easy access to the interstate, historic Route 66, and more than 2,000 hotel rooms.
Other hotels with function space include the 151-room Holiday Inn Amarillo West Medical Center, with 8,000 square feet of meeting space; The Barfield, Autograph Collection, with 112 guest rooms and event space to seat 130 theater style; and the 128-room Four Points by Sheraton, with 2,400 square feet of event space. The city has approximately 7,400 guest rooms, according to Visit Amarillo.
