AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Convention Center Department (ACCD) has promoted Katy Zamesnik, from chief administrative officer to assistant director.
As an executive team member, she will continue to work on the redevelopment and expansion project team, managing financial operations and partner relations.
Since March 2022, Zamesnik has held her current position, providing guidance and oversight for the redevelopment and expansion of the Austin Convention Center, the department’s overall budget, funding mechanisms, and debt services. She will continue to oversee the administration of ACCD’s community engagement and arts programs. She also is the liaison and contract manager for Visit Austin.
Trisha Tatro, ACCD director, says, “Over the last three years, Katy has successfully led the strategic planning efforts for redevelopment and expansion and managed the department’s overall budget, funding, and debt services.”
Zamesnik earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and International Affairs from Florida State University in 2008, and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012.
ACCD has also announced that Rolando Fernandez, Jr. has joined the executive team as deputy director. He is joining the redevelopment and expansion project team and will lead the department’s purchasing, contracts, and project management teams.

“Rolando brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in capital improvement programs, construction services, contract development, and procurement,” says Tatro. “He has demonstrated an ability to effectively communicate with the mayor and council, city executives, outside agencies, and stakeholders. His knowledge and problem-solving experiences will further strengthen our department.”
