A college town in central Arkansas, Conway was recently noted as the fastest-growing city in the state and was designated a silver-level bike-friendly city by the League of American Cyclists, says Rachel Shaw, executive director for Visit Conway. “Conway is known as ‘The City of Colleges,’ based on the three colleges in town. Due to this, we have a very young, vibrant population, as well as a focus on education. There is always a college sporting event, art show, or performance taking place in Conway, thanks to the culture of our three institutions of higher education” she says.
The city’s newest hotels include the 109-room Courtyard by Marriott and 91-room Hampton Inn & Suites. In addition, the 87-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites completed a full renovation. Each hotel has small meeting rooms.
The Conway Expo Center has 40,000 square feet of open exhibit space and 6,200 square feet of meeting rooms. Facilities on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas include Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center, with 6,500 square feet of meeting space, and two historic buildings with event space, McCastlain Hall and McAlister Hall, which features the recently renovated Mirror Room, with a capacity of 75 people.
In nearby Morrilton, the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute is a nonprofit conference, event, and retreat facility located on the historic cattle ranch home of former Arkansas Governor Winthrop Rockefeller. Venues include an 80-seat theater and a conference hall with a capacity of 250, plus additional meeting and event spaces. The institute features the 30-room President’s Lodge and The Orchard, a self-contained 10-guest room facility for corporate retreats. Available programs include culinary teambuilding, a variety of outdoor sports and activities, and professional development workshops delivered by trained staff facilitators.
