Danville and Pittsylvania County in Virginia’s Southside (SoSi) region “offer groups a truly distinctive destination experience, seamlessly blending Danville’s rich urban heritage and vibrant culture with Pittsylvania County’s scenic outdoors,” says Lisa Meriwether, tourism manager for Visit SoSi.
Caesars Virginia, the newly opened $650 million destination resort and casino, features 320 guest rooms, 12 restaurants, a full-service spa, a pool, and other amenities. It has 50,000 square feet of event space, including a 29,150-square-foot event center with a capacity of 2,915 people reception style, 2,500 theater style, and 2,420 banquet style.
Danville’s Institute for Advanced Learning and Research Conference Center boasts 25,000 square feet of flexible event space on two levels. In its largest space, the center can accommodate 750 people theater style, 504 banquet style, and 300 classroom style.
Combining world-class motorsports with hospitality, VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) offers 51 overnight accommodations and features five event areas, including a 6,900-square-foot gallery seating up to 300 guests. VIR also offers specialized events and company retreats combining high-energy activities with teambuilding initiatives.
Hotels with event space include the 47-room Bee Hotel in downtown Danville, featuring a rooftop space accommodating up to 94 people. The Holbrook Hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has 45 guest rooms. Other options include the 118-room Comfort Inn & Suites, Danville; 93-room Holiday Inn Express Danville, an IHG Hotel; 92-room Courtyard by Marriott Danville; and 88-room Hampton Inn Danville.
For local flavor, Danville’s 2 Witches Winery & Brewing Co., Virginia’s first combination winery and brewery, offers crafted wines and beers paired with creative dishes from The Cauldron food truck. Other culinary options in the area include Ballad Brewing for craft beer and Ramsey’s Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay at Caesars Virginia. In Gretna, two dining experiences, The Pod and the Artist Way Café, each deliver unique flavors and an eclectic ambiance.
