Fayetteville, N.C.— DistiNCtly Fayetteville, the destination marketing organization (DMO) for North Carolina’s Fayetteville and Cumberland County region, launched The Can Do Academy, an online training program designed to equip the local community with the knowledge to deliver engaging visitor experiences.
The Can Do Academy is a free interactive experience, open to anyone who wants to join. It features 37 lessons created for front-line workers at hotels, attractions, restaurants, and retailers to gain a deeper knowledge of Cumberland County’s tourism assets. It offers in-depth lessons on the region’s cultural and historical landmarks, dining establishments, entertainment venues, and community events so they can confidently share Fayetteville’s experiences with visitors. DistiNCtly Fayetteville is one of the first DMOs in North Carolina to launch the initiative.
“At DistiNCtly Fayetteville, we recognize the vital role that exceptional hospitality plays in shaping our region’s reputation and economic success,” says Devin Heath, CEO of DistiNCtly Fayetteville. “Cumberland County has so much to offer visitors—from world-class museums and attractions to our diverse restaurants and breweries—and we are proud to launch The Can Do Academy to empower individuals to provide an excellent visitor experience.”
DistiNCtly Fayetteville partnered with Learn Tourism to develop the course, due to the nonprofit’s expertise in research-driven training programs made for the tourism industry. Using science, psychology, and adult-learning methodologies, they created course content to help participants gain the practical knowledge they need to enhance visitor experiences and, in turn, strengthen the local tourism economy.
“We are thrilled to see DistiNCtly Fayetteville launch this impactful ambassador program,” says Stephen Ekstrom, CEO and co-founder of Learn Tourism. “By investing in education and community engagement, they are setting a new standard for destination stewardship and visitor hospitality. We’re proud to have played a role in building a program that will leave a lasting impact.”
