According to Beth Brumley, executive director of Main Street El Dorado, the city’s historic and busy downtown is a big part of its attraction. “Within a few blocks, we have more than 13 restaurants, 12 boutiques, lodging, and El Dorado Conference Center,” Brumley says. “There are fun things for event attendees to do in their off time or for the whole family to enjoy, like the farmers market, Murphy Arts District (MAD), museums, and festivals year-round.”
El Dorado Conference Center is the city’s biggest event space and features a 10,590-square-foot hall, with seating for 600 people and six breakout rooms for meetings. The multipurpose venue is on the campus of South Arkansas Community College. Additional function spaces in the city include the 1,800-seat Municipal Auditorium and space at MAD, which can accommodate 600 banquet-style tables or host 2,000 people inside the First Financial Music Hall for concerts.
“Another bonus is Mystic Creek Golf Club, which is rated the No.1 course in Arkansas,” Brumley says. “The 18-hole course and full practice facility welcomes golfers of all abilities. The championship par 72 course is complemented by a modern clubhouse, featuring panoramic views, a fully stocked pro shop, and Mystic Grill, which can host small group events.”
Lodging downtown includes the 80-room The Haywood El Dorado, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and the 32-suite Union Square Guest Quarters, which was renovated recently.
