Florida’s Adventure Coast

Florida’s Adventure Coast is a destination steeped in the state’s early history and iconic retro attractions. Historic Brooksville, established in 1856, features moss-draped oaks, 19th-century buildings, and brick streets. Local attractions include a Native American outpost in a log cabin, the Brooksville Railroad Depot Museum, and the Hernando Heritage Museum in the May-Stringer House.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Spring Hill features one of Florida’s most iconic old-school attractions: the Weeki Wachee “mermaids,” who perform nautical pantomimes for audiences in a 500-seat theater. The attraction also has a water park, animal and reptile exhibits, and boat cruises.

Adventure Coast visitors also can sample their way through the self-guided “Kegs, Casks & Corks” tour, featuring local handcrafted beer, wine, and distilled liquors at such places as Brooksville’s Sparacia Witherell Family Winery & Vineyards and Bourbon Bar and Tidal Brewing Co. in Spring Hill.
