Just 30 minutes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and an easy drive from many major Texas cities, Georgetown is a convenient yet distinctive choice for gatherings of all sizes, according to Marcy Renneberg, tourism coordinator for Visit Georgetown. “We’re known as having the ‘most beautiful town square in Texas,’ and we captivate visitors with our historic architecture and welcoming energy,” she says. “Georgetown has the character of a small town but with first-class venues, acclaimed dining, and a thriving arts and entertainment scene.”
The new Light and Waterworks event space, scheduled to open early this year, will include a stage, an event lawn, and food truck areas, Renneberg notes. Downtown also has a new parking garage.
Offsite event facilities include City Post Chophouse, an award-winning steakhouse, with the newly opened Brass Peacock speakeasy downstairs for smaller groups and a private 100-person-capacity dining space upstairs; and Wish Well House, a renovated historic home near the town square, which can accommodate 260 event guests. “Georgetown is a real foodie destination, and downtown’s open-container-friendly streets make it easy to stroll with a craft beer or glass of wine before dinner,” Renneberg says.
The 222-room Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center has an event capacity of 1,500 across 26,672 square feet of function space. The hotel is in a park setting and is convenient to shops, restaurants, and walking trails. There are approximately 1,222 guest rooms in Georgetown.
