Howard County is anchored by its largest community, Columbia, and is a 10-minute drive from Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport. For events, Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City features more than 40,000 square feet of event space, with a capacity of 800 people. Resort amenities include two 18-hole golf courses, a spa, and several onsite dining options. The LEED Silver-certified Hotel at Arundel Preserve has 13 event spaces, including a grand ballroom with a capacity of 600 banquet style and 540 theater style. Bon Secours Retreat & Conference Center in Marriottsville offers overnight accommodations for 70 people, event space to host up to 150 people theater style, and onsite dining.
In Columbia, the 212-room Merriweather Lakehouse, Autograph Collection features more than 20,000 square feet of event space across 10 meeting rooms and 14 breakout rooms. The hotel’s largest space can accommodate 400 for receptions. DoubleTree by Hilton Columbia boasts 152 guest rooms and more than 11,000 square feet of event space with a capacity of 300 people. The 175-room Holiday Inn Columbia East-Jessup, an IHG Hotel has multiple event spaces; its largest space can accommodate up to 275 guests.
For teambuilding, Terrapin Adventures offers high-ropes courses, ziplines, and giant swings. Columbia’s Merriweather District, home to the world-famous Merriweather Post Pavilion, offers a wide range of shopping, dining, and nightlife options. Howard County also has more than 30,000 acres of parkland and more than 100 miles of trails in local state parks, including Patapsco Valley State Park.
