WASHINGTON, D.C.—InterContinental Washington D.C. The Wharf entered 2026 with a new leadership team and a slate of refreshed guest amenities as the waterfront hotel approaches its 10th year of operation.
Located along the Potomac River, the luxury property named Stefan Mirevski as its general manager, Tyler Jones as director of sales and marketing, and Monique Harrison as director of group sales. The leadership changes are designed to strengthen the property’s position within Washington, D.C.’s competitive luxury hospitality market.
Mirevski brings more than 30 years of international hospitality experience to the role, most recently serving as general manager of The Capital Hilton. His career includes leading major renovations, rebrandings, and operational turnarounds at high-profile hotels in New York and the Washington, D.C., region.
“At InterContinental, luxury is defined by how guests feel—welcomed, understood, and genuinely cared for,” says Mirevski. “My focus is creating an environment where teams are inspired to deliver thoughtful, seamless service every day, and where the hotel remains a trusted destination for travelers seeking both sophistication and a strong sense of place.”
Jones joins the hotel with nearly two decades of experience in luxury hospitality sales and marketing, including his most recent role as opening director of sales and marketing for JW Marriott Reston Station (Va.). He has also held leadership positions at convention, resort, and urban luxury hotels across the country.
“InterContinental Washington D.C. The Wharf is truly iconic—offering an unmatched blend of city energy and waterfront tranquility,” Jones says. “As Washington prepares to welcome a global audience for America’s 250th [birthday], there is no better place to experience the nation’s capital.”
Harrison, named director of group sales, brings extensive experience in the Washington-area market, having led group sales efforts at several prominent properties in the District and northern Virginia. She is known for driving revenue growth and developing high-performing sales teams within the luxury meetings and events sector.
The leadership appointments at the hotel follow a series of guest-facing enhancements completed in 2025. Willowsong, the hotel’s signature restaurant, debuted in spring 2025 under executive chef Jeffrey Williams. The restaurant focuses on Mid-Atlantic ingredients and offers multi-course chef’s table experiences alongside daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as weekend brunch service.
The hotel also reopened The Spa at The Wharf in summer 2025. Located on the third floor, the spa offers panoramic river views and a menu of wellness treatments aimed at both hotel guests and local visitors.
In addition, InterContinental Washington D.C. The Wharf completed a soft renovation of more than 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The refreshed venues feature contemporary design updates and floor-to-ceiling windows, providing flexible settings for corporate meetings, weddings, and social events.
Hotel officials said the combination of new leadership and upgraded amenities positions the property as a luxury waterfront destination at the center of the Wharf neighborhood, just minutes from The National Mall and downtown Washington.
