LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Marriott International has made a significant contribution to the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AHLA) fight against human trafficking.
During the recent Hospitality Show in Las Vegas, the hotel giant, along with The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, donated $550,000 to the AHLA Foundation’s No Room for Trafficking Survivor (NRFT) Fund,
The fund, which was established less than a year ago, now has $3.4 million to support local non-profit organizations that provide support to survivors of human trafficking.
Anthony Capuano, president and CEO of Marriott International, says human trafficking is a “profound violation of human rights.”
He adds that the contribution to the fund is the next step in supporting survivors and raising awareness of human trafficking.
Mieka Wick, executive director of the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, says they are proud to partake in efforts to support survivors.
The AHLA Foundation will be awarding the first grants from the fund next month. Foundation president Anna Blue says every contribution such as this one amplifies the fight against human trafficking. She voiced her gratefulness for Marriott’s leadership and action on the issue.
