Once the capital of Indian Territory, Muskogee has a rich railroad history, which drew settlers and homesteaders to the region and still plays a vital role in the city’s economy today, according to VisitMuskogee.com.

In summer 2024, Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame launched a $2.4 million renovation of the building, museum, concert hall, exterior, and overall branding, expected to be completed in early 2026. The renovated space will include new exhibit and display areas, concert space, and a hall seating 240 people theater style. Also new, Three Forks Harbor features River Center, a 10,000-square-foot multipurpose events center and plaza. Depot Green is a new downtown park, event space, and trailhead for the 5K Centennial Trail.

Muskogee Civic Center is the largest venue in the city. It has a 9,000-square-foot main hall, which can accommodate 1,000 people, and six meeting rooms. Additional venues include Muskogee Little Theatre, with a 271-seat main theater and 2,000-square-foot Grand Lobby for dinners and pre-function events; Eight Ten Ranch & Cattle Co., with a 5,400-square-foot hall seating 250 guests; and Muskogee Golf Club, with an event room seating up to 80 guests. The unique Castle of Muskogee, a 20-acre replica of a Renaissance village, hosts the long-running annual Oklahoma Renaissance Festival and features seasonal event venues, including a 906-person-capacity Great Hall, 756-person-capacity Garden Room, and other spaces.

Best Western Plus The Inn & Suites at Muskogee includes a 2,500-square-foot meeting room, which can accommodate 110 guests. Hampton Inn, Home2 Suites, Fairfield Inn, LaQuinta Inn & Suites, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites all have small meeting rooms as well.

In 2023, Muskogee’s Five Civilized Tribes Museum won True West Magazine’s Top Ten Western Museum award. The museum, which showcases the art, history, and cultures of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek), and Seminole nations, offers regular
programs and provides group tours.
