NoMA

The fast-growing neighborhood of NoMa (north of Massachusetts Avenue) is known for its trendy restaurants, specialty grocery stores, and Union Market, a restored, industrial-cool space with pop-up and permanent vendors, plus take-out and seated dining spots, indoors and out. NoMa is home to historic Gallaudet University, a private university for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The university’s 122-room Kellogg Conference Hotel has 122 guest rooms and 17,000 square feet of event space, including a 275-seat auditorium.

Upstairs from the shops at Union Market, Dock5 is a 12,000-square-foot warehouse space that can host 700 for receptions. Located on the Union Market rooftop, Hi-Lawn restaurant offers seasonally changing fare, lawn games, outdoor music, picnic tables, and space for groups of 1,000 people. Adjacent to the market, La Cosecha restaurant features seasonal menus curated in partnership with D.C.’s Latin American embassies, along with retail shops and art installations. Event spaces at La Cosecha include a 30-person-capacity culinary studio, a 75-person-capacity gallery, and a media studio. Hotel Nell Union Market is a 106-room boutique hotel with a lobby, rooftop restaurant, and small function spaces for events and meetings.

Washington Marriott Capitol Hill has more than 18,000 square feet of event space, including a ballroom seating 210 for banquets and a rooftop terrace. The Morrow Washington DC, Curio Collection by Hilton has 203 guest rooms and more than 11,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including a ballroom to host 250 for receptions and 216 seated theater style, a 2,200-square-foot outdoor veranda, a private-level lounge, and a rooftop bar and terrace. Additional hotels with event space include Hilton Garden Inn, Washington DC/U.S. Capitol, with 204 guest rooms and 3,090 square feet of function space in four meeting rooms, and Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, with 200 guest rooms and 1,600 square feet of function space. Set to open in 2027 in the Union Market area, MOB Hotel will have 144 guest rooms, a live music venue, and rooftop event space; it will be the first U.S. location for the Paris-based chain.
