San Angelo embodies the perfect blend of Western heritage and a vibrant arts scene, “creating a unique cultural tapestry that sets us apart as a must-visit destination,” says Jonna Gaddy, director of sales for Discover San Angelo. “A key niche that attracts planners is our commitment to integrating authentic, local experiences into events,” Gaddy says. “Whether crafting a welcome reception in the Concho River’s scenic setting or offering interactive cultural activities celebrating our local artisans, San Angelo has a way of turning every gathering into a memorable experience that is hard to replicate elsewhere.”

Larger event spaces in town include McNease Convention Center, which has four meeting spaces to accommodate 1,200 theater style or 700 for banquets; Foster Communications Coliseum, with a 20,000-square-foot exhibit floor and 5,000 permanent seats; and CJ Davidson Conference Center at Angelo State University, with more than 110,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Hotels with event space include the 171-room La Quinta Inn by Wyndham and Conference Center San Angelo, which has 6,500 square feet of event space for 300 guests, and the 94-room Courtyard by Marriott, which has 4,000 square feet of function space. The city has approximately 2,880 guest rooms.

Unique, historic venues are the Cactus Hotel, one of the original Conrad Hilton hotels and now an event venue, with five meeting rooms and a 350-person capacity ballroom; and Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, a frontier museum, with a variety of distinct event spaces for 600 guests.

One of the city’s newest attractions is San Angelo NAACP Buffalo Soldier Memorial. “This is an ideal choice for planners looking to add something special to their itinerary,” Gaddy says. “The memorial not only enriches our understanding of the history of the courageous Black soldiers who helped shape the American West but also celebrates diversity, making it an excellent cultural touchpoint for visitors from all walks of life.”
