BRYAN, Texas—Destination Byran executive director John Friebele has been appointed to Destinations International’s Advisory Leadership Board for 2026. Destinations International is the world’s largest association for destination organizations and tourism professionals.
As a board member, Friebele joins tourism leaders from across the country to provide insight to help advance the organization’s mission, including identifying strategic gaps, offering diverse perspectives on industry issues, and supporting workforce development and retention efforts. Board members also participate in a mentorship program designed to develop future industry leaders.

Friebele is the founding executive director of Destination Bryan, the official destination marketing organization for Bryan; his primary focus is promoting Bryan tourism as a driver of economic growth, community engagement, and social impact. Under his leadership, Destination Bryan was named DMO of the Year in 2022 by the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus.
Friebele also received the Texas Travel Alliance’s 4 Under 40 Award in 2020. He is currently pursuing Certified Destination Management Executive designation.
