DALLAS, Texas – The Sheraton Dallas Hotel is hosting a Mural Scavenger Hunt through the summer, encouraging visitors and locals alike to discover the many murals in the downtown area. The event launched on May 24 in coordination with National Scavenger Hunt Day.
The Sheraton Dallas is located in the heart of downtown Dallas, a short walk away from many murals and the Deep Ellum neighborhood. It is also close to the Bishop Arts District, where many more murals are on display.
The Sheraton is treating participants to one complimentary well drink, draft beer, or house wine, as well as 50 percent off one appetizer at the hotel’s restaurant and bar, Open Palette.
Mural Scavenger Hunt instructions:
- Step 1: View a complete list of murals in Dallas.
- Step 2: Snap a selfie in front of four or more murals and tag the hotel. One selfie must include the ‘Optimism Starts with You’ mural located on the exterior wall of the hotel’s parking garage across the street from Pacific Plaza (corner of Harwood and Live Oak Streets).
- Step 3: Share your selfies with the bartender at Open Palette.
The ‘Optimism Starts with You’ mural is painted by local artist Mari Pohlman, artistically known as “Marpohl.” The artwork is based on the idea that optimism may start with one person, but it can easily ripple out through small acts and thoughtful moments, thereby changing the surrounding people and communities.
Sheraton Dallas Hotel is the largest hotel in north Texas with 1,840 guest rooms and 230,000 square feet of meeting and convention spaces.
