DUMFRIES, VA – Colonial Downs Groups has broken ground on Rose Gaming Resort, a planned $400 million hotel, gaming facility, and public park.
According to the Prince William Times newspaper, Rose Gaming Resort is scheduled to open in 2023. The resort is being built on what is now the Potomac Landfill, a construction debris landfill in operation since 1984. The landfill is set to close at the end of this month.
The gaming resort will feature a hotel with up to 305 rooms, eight restaurants, a 1,500-square-foot conference and meeting space, a cultural events center, and 50,000 square feet of gaming space.
The article states the company will close Rosie’s Gaming Emporium, a smaller nearby gaming outlet when the resort opens.
Prince Williams Times also reports that according to a economic development study prepared by Colonial Downs Groups, the resort will have 600 employees and generate $19 million in annual city and county tax revenues.
