LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport will soon undergo a $25 million renovation.

As reported by local TV station WDRB, the hotel’s owner company, Al J. Schneider Co., is upgrading the 50-year hotel because of its confidence that the local hospitality market has returned fully from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the article, the company’s CEO Scott Schoenberger told WDRB that he expects business travel to “explode” soon.

According to the article, the project will include all the hotel’s 588 rooms, adding a bar to the lobby, changing up the in-hotel restaurant, and upgrading events paces. The hotel currently offers 50,000 square feet and 24 meeting and banquet rooms. Schoenberg says the project is expected to be complete by the 2024 Kentucky Derby.

The article states the hotel last received a significant upgrade in 2009. It sits adjacent to the Kentucky Exposition Center, which has 1.2 million square feet of contiguous meeting space, 56 meeting rooms, and 356 acres of outdoor exhibit and demonstration space.
