DALLAS—Omni Hotels & Resorts broke ground March 31 on its new 143-room luxury hotel in Midland, marking the company’s twelfth Texas property. The Omni Midland Hotel is scheduled to open in late 2027.

Developed in partnership with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP, the project aims to celebrate the city’s heritage while providing modern amenities for business, convention, and leisure travelers. Design partners with Texas roots, including HKS Architects and Looney & Associates, are crafting the hotel’s architecture and interiors, while The Design Agency is shaping the restaurants and bars as destination-driven concepts for locals and visitors.

“We are proud to see this project come to life,” says Kurt Alexander, president of Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Omni Midland honors the city’s storied history and reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding land. We are grateful to our partners for helping make this vision a reality, and we look forward to becoming the living room for Midland, where visitors, guests, residents, and business leaders gather for meetings, celebrations, and community events for years to come.”

Located within walking distance of George H.W. Bush Convention Center, Omni Midland is designed to serve both conventions and leisure travelers. The hotel will offer 143 guest rooms, including a presidential suite with panoramic downtown views; roughly 16,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including a 5,640-square-foot ballroom, an executive boardroom with park views, and an outdoor terrace; three dining venues; a rooftop pool deck; and a full-service spa with a sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold plunge, and treatment rooms. An 800-space parking garage will serve both hotel guests and convention center visitors.

“As a lifelong Midlander, I am proud to see this project moving forward in downtown Midland,” says Midland Mayor Lori Blong. “The Omni Midland Hotel and parking garage represent more than an investment; they are part of the wave of catalytic projects driving the continued momentum of our community. This project is another powerful example of Midlanders investing in Midland and building a brighter future for generations to come.”

Omni Midland is positioned as a strategic addition to Omni Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio of more than 50 properties nationwide, aiming to combine West Texas heritage with modern hospitality and event spaces.
