WASHINGTON, D.C.—Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill has achieved LEED Silver Certification, a globally recognized standard for sustainable design that evaluates the environmental performance of buildings.

LEED certification, administered through the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), evaluates buildings across several categories, including water efficiency, energy use, materials, indoor environmental quality, and innovation. Projects must meet the required standards and earn points before undergoing verification.

The certification reflects the hotel’s commitment to environmental practices and recent upgrades following a comprehensive renovation with sustainability-focused design and materials. The hotel’s recent renovation incorporated LEED-inspired guidelines throughout construction and in the selection of furnishings.

“We are proud to achieve LEED Certification as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible hospitality,” says Randy Thompson, general manager of Hyatt Regency Washington. “This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication to reducing our environmental footprint while continuing to deliver a high-quality guest experience in the heart of the nation’s capital.”

The hotel’s redesign coincides with the property’s 50th anniversary and America 250, drawing inspiration from the craftsmanship of the U.S. Capitol and the surrounding area.
