MOBILE, Ala. – The Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel has reopened after a long round of significant renovations.
The Renaissance Riverview, owned by RSA, the Retirement Systems of Alabama, has renovated each of its 373 guest rooms and all its public facilities, as well as its 44,000 square feet of conference space. The Renaissance is located in downtown Mobile and connected to the Mobile Convention Center.
Overlooking the waterfront of Mobile Bay and surrounded by restaurants, businesses, and historic museums, the hotel is squarely located in the heart of lower Alabama’s cultural center. Closely tied to leadership within the city, including Visit Mobile, the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Mobile Alliance, The Riverview Plaza is positioned as one of the Gulf Coast’s notable destination hotels.
One of Mobile’s prime claims to fame is that it hosted the United States’ original Mardi Gras. Today, the city’s signature carnival throw is a MoonPie, a cream-filled cookie coated in a sugary icing. In celebration of the treasured treat, the Renaissance Riverview is the host hotel to the city’s New Year’s Eve MoonPie drop.
