Brand USA Program Extended

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With growth in domestic travel projected to soften in 2020, the American hospitality and travel community is hailing the renewal of Brand USA.

A public-private partnership that promotes travel to and within the U.S., Brand USA is awaiting President Trump’s signature, after the Senate voted to reauthorize the program as part of an end-of-year spending package last week.

The Brand USA Extension Act of 2019 will fund the program through 2027. Private sector contributions, matched by U.S. government fees collected from foreign visitors, fund the program. The Brand USA marketing organization operates at no expense to taxpayers.

Travel advocates from every state had spoken out in favor of Brand USA’s renewal and members of the U.S. Travel Association issued a rare joint public statement in May urging Congress to act on Brand USA.

The American travel community hailed the move, which will enable Brand USA to build on its record of adding 52,000 jobs annually and $47.7 billion in total economic impact to the U.S. economy since 2013—all at zero cost to the U.S. taxpayer.
