Kevin Carey appointed AHLA Foundation president and CEO

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) on March 3 announced the appointment of Kevin Carey as the AHLA Foundation’s president and CEO. In a press release, AHLA said Carey will continue to serve as COO of AHLA.

Rainwater Conference Center adds three new team members

The Rainwater Conference Center in Valdosta, Ga., appointed three new team members to enhance the meetings and events team and to manage the recently renovated facility. The conference center completed approximately $1 million in upgrades last year.

OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark, managed by Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, is now open in the new Horizons District. Situated along the Oklahoma River and just minutes from downtown Oklahoma City, OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark features 404 guest rooms and suites, several dining spots, retail shops, a family entertainment center, and a sizeable indoor water park and 4.5-acre outdoor lagoon.

Destination by Hyatt plans Okhissa Lake Lodge in Mississippi

Hyatt Hotel Corp., along with the Scenic Rivers Development Alliance, announced plans for a new Okhissa Lake Lodge on Okhissa Lake in Mississippi’s Franklin County. This will be the first Destination by Hyatt brand hotel in Mississippi, expected to open in 2027.

DistiNCtly Fayetteville launches new tourism academy

DistiNCtly Fayetteville, the destination marketing organization (DMO) for North Carolina’s Fayetteville and Cumberland County region, launched The Can Do Academy, an online training program designed to equip the local community with the knowledge to deliver engaging visitor experiences.
