LAS VEGAS, Nev. – IMEX America 2020, the leading exhibition for incentive travel, meetings, and events sectors, has been canceled.
The event was scheduled for Sept. 15 to 17, 2020 at the Sands Expo and Conference Center in Las Vegas.
In a joint statement released last week, IMEX CEO Carina Bauer and Chairman Ray Bloom confirmed the event’s cancellation.
“We’re acutely aware that since lockdown began, IMEX America 2020 has come to represent a beacon of hope for the entire business events community. We assure you, no one is more disappointed than the IMEX team that we can’t fulfill that expectation,” Bauer and Bloom wrote.
The annual event, which was set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2020, attracts approximately 13,000 each year.
In the statement, Bauer and Bloom attributed the decision to ongoing corporate travel bans, the small window of time to organize a large-scale event, and international travel restrictions, which would have an impact as a third of event attendees come from overseas.
“We will miss shaking your hands, giving our industry friends a well-earned hug, and looking you in the eye with a warm smile,” the statement reads. “However, true to the spirit of IMEX and our heartfelt commitment to the industry we love, we will do our very best to deliver our customary high-quality content, business connections plus a dash of fun through our online experience until we can all meet again.”
IMEX American 2021 is scheduled for Nov. 9 to 11, 2021.
