Kentucky’s capital of Frankfort, home to approximately 25,000 people, is a historic city with a walkable downtown lined with 19th-century homes and commercial structures, many listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A highlight of downtown is the Greek Revival-style Old State Capitol, which served as the state capitol from 1830 to 1910.
According to VisitFrankfort.com, event facilities include distilleries, hotels, and historic sites. Castle & Key Distillery offers private tours, tastings, and experiences, along with indoor and outdoor spaces for 200 people. Buffalo Trace Distillery can accommodate up to 300 people for private events.
The 189-room Capital Plaza Hotel expects to complete major renovations by the end of 2026, with updated guest rooms, redesigned entry, and expanded event space. The hotel currently has 10,000 square feet of function space for 450 guests. According to FrankfortKYParksAndRec.com, the renovations are part of a strategic development plan to encompass the city’s riverfront from Capital View Park to Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Historic venues for smaller events include the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, with space to accommodate 200 guests, and The Foundry on Broadway, with 4,500 square feet of flexible space.
