Home to the famous U.S. presidential retreat, Camp David, Frederick County is less than an hour’s drive from Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport and Dulles International Airport (IAD).
“Besides our outstanding venues and guest accommodations, we offer groups many other bonuses: a thriving historic downtown, a vibrant culinary scene, and countless recreational activities,” says Becky Bickerton, assistant director of Visit Frederick. “We also have more wineries, breweries, and distilleries than any other destination in the state.”
Gardiner Hall at the Delaplaine Arts Center in downtown Frederick can accommodate up to 150 guests indoors; an adjacent outdoor deck can host up to 70 people. The Art Deco 1926 Weinberg Center for the Arts includes an auditorium seating up to 1,183 people. Union Mills Public House offers 3,200 square feet of event space and onsite catering for up to 200 guests. The Claggett Center, a conference and retreat venue in Adamstown, can host up to 270 people in its largest space. The venue also offers 60 hotel-style guest rooms, a dormitory, and several cottages with overnight accommodations.
The 167-room Hampton Inn Frederick, located off Interstate 270, can accommodate up to 248 people for banquets in its largest space. The Hilton Garden Inn Frederick offers 143 guest rooms and function space for up to 180 people, seated theater style. The 65-room Visitation Hotel Frederick, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel features 12 elegant event spaces, ranging from intimate dining rooms to a 2,714-square-foot ballroom seating up to 280 people theater style.
The hotel’s Wye Oak Tavern is led by Top Chef contestant Bryan Voltaggio and offers a chef-driven, locally sourced menu featuring fresh seafood and local game. For other flavorful options in Frederick, McClintock’s Back Bar, a full-service cocktail bar, is part of the award-winning McClintock Distillery.
